Small Business Incubator

Working with local universities and other entities, Urban Trends Real Estate, Inc.Foundation will create a nonprofit business incubator to train employable adults in construction and property management occupations. The mission is to stimulate local economic development by providing a local workforce (reduce the cost of development and provide jobs), by creating small businesses that will provide the goods and services necessarily attendant to the creation and maintenance of a planned community.

Stemming from the need to reduce production and manufacturing costs, Urban Trends Real Estate, Inc. will stimulate the development of small businesses equipped to manufacture related items including steel beams and studs, concrete, gypsum products, roofing, and tiles.

The incubator will also serve as a laboratory to explore use of alternative and innovative building technologies and products that can address energy-efficiency, termite-resistance, and lower-maintenance issues.

Although initial funding is anticipated from grant sources, the incubator is intended to become self-sufficient through fees, consulting, contracts, and other sources.

Urban Trends Real Estate, Inc. Institute will partner with other organizations, including US Peace Corps and Habitat for Humanity to produce affordable housing units for low-income residents. These projects will provide experiential learning opportunities for incubator tenants while producing a solution to an area of the housing project not addressed by our for-profit activities.
